Description
This ceramic vase is an example of Arts and Crafts style art pottery. It features a tall, tapered ovoid body that narrows toward the base, finishing with a flared foot and a corresponding flared rim. The item is made from a reddish-brown earthenware clay body. The decoration consists of several rows of sharp, upward-pointing motifs in shades of brown, ochre, and pale green. The top portion and interior rim are finished with a mottled blue drip glaze that flows into the top row of the pattern. The base features several handwritten marks in a dark medium, including # 59, 2:75, a character resembling an H, and a large, loopy cursive mark.
