Description
12x36x10.5 An antique 19th-century American storage chest, likely used for blankets or tools, crafted in a Primitive or Country style. The chest is constructed from a solid hardwood, possibly walnut or cherry, featuring a rectangular form with a hinged lid. The lid is designed with a mitered frame. The body of the chest rests on a decorative, tiered stepped molding base. Construction appears to be butt-joined with nail fastening. The hardware is composed of forged or early cast iron, including two heavy-duty drop handles mounted to the sides and two hinges on the back. A small iron loop is located on the front center for a hasp closure. The interior provides a single, open storage compartment.
