Description
60in tall An antique American lightning rod featuring a central pole constructed from copper or a copper alloy, displaying a heavy, natural verdigris patina throughout. The rod tapers to a point at the top and is decorated with two matching translucent blue glass spheres. The piece is mounted in a -style iron tripod display stand with a vertical support sleeve. The iron components show significant surface oxidation and a dark rusted finish. A white auction tag marked 191 is attached to the upper glass sphere. This item is characteristic of late 19th to early 20th-century American folk-utilitarian design.
