Description
12 in tall A two-piece ceramic cookie jar or decorative vessel depicting a jovial Santa Claus in a waving pose. The figure is constructed from glazed earthenware, likely slip-cast, and features a folk-art aesthetic with a patchwork motif. Santa is dressed in his traditional red suit, which includes raised green evergreen tree and purple patch decorations, fastened with oversized blue buttons and a black belt with a gold-tone buckle. His left hand is raised in a wave, wearing a green mitten with a blue tip, while his right hand holds a green bag. A large blue sack, also featuring a patchwork design and filled with various wrapped gifts, sits behind him. His beard and the trim of his suit and hat are highly textured, with the beard accented by blue-toned shading. His red hat terminates in a gold-painted bell. The interior of the jar is finished in a clean white glaze. The base has an unglazed foot rim and retains a retail adhesive label from Dee’s Hallmark Shop with a barcode and a price of 16.95. Approximately 12 – 14 inches in height.
