Description
A collection of hand-carved wooden sculptures finished in polychrome paint and gilt accents, consistent with Balinese folk art traditions. The group depicts four distinct figures in traditional regional attire. One figure is a male holding a large curved sickle-type tool over his shoulder, wearing a dark green shirt and a sarong with a black and gold diamond pattern. A second figure is a standing male musician holding hand cymbals (ceng-ceng), dressed in a matching green shirt and diamond-patterned sarong. A third figure is a woman carrying a tiered offering tray (gebogan) on her head, which contains small jars; she wears a traditional breast wrap and a green floral-patterned sarong. The fourth figure is a male musician playing a handheld percussion instrument, wearing a green shirt and a checkered (poleng) patterned sarong. There are no maker’s marks, signatures, or labels visible on any of the bases or figurines.Measurements/notes: 4 carvings.
