Description
A group of various vintage advertising ashtrays and a lidded wooden container. The collection includes a square translucent blue glass ashtray with rounded corners and yellow printed graphics for McEwans Lager, featuring illustrations of a man drinking from a mug. A heavy cobalt blue glass rectangular ashtray with canted corners is marked Belhaven in gold printed text alongside a crest and the date Est. 1719. Ceramic pieces include a square cream-colored ashtray for the New York Central Early Bird Fast Freight Service featuring a cartoon bird character wearing a conductor hat marked NYC, and a round commemorative ashtray for the 1861 to 1961 Civil War Centennial listing the Confederate States of America with a central seal bearing the motto Deo Vindice. Smaller glass items comprise a round black glass ashtray with white printed text for The Citizens National Bank and a square clear glass ashtray for Madelines Restaurant with red graphics stating Open 24 Hours 7 Days A Week. The lot is completed by a dark-stained cylindrical wooden container with a metal nut-style finial on the lid. The base of the container features a brown felt pad with an adhesive paper label printed in red with Christmas Greetings and Mackintosh-Hemphill Co. accompanied by a circular logo containing the letters M, H, and Co.
