Description
A large, clear glass spherical storage jar designed for storefront or general store counter display. The form features a bulbous body with a slanted neck opening and a flattened circular base for stability. The jar is equipped with an original hinged metal lid, likely aluminum or tin, which is secured to the glass rim via a wrap-around metal collar and simple pin hinge. The underside of the base features embossed lettering. The words PATENT PENDING appear in a curved arc, with the name BELLAIRE impressed in straight block letters directly beneath. These marks identify the piece as a product of the Bellaire Glass Company of Bellaire, Ohio. The glass exhibits a slight tint in the thicker sections and shows characteristic manufacturing striations and bubbles.
