Description
A hand-carved and painted wooden working duck decoy, fashioned to represent a black duck or a mallard hen. The decoy is constructed with a separately carved head attached to the body, featuring a visible join line at the neck. The plumage is rendered in brown paint with a dark speculum on each wing, detailed with two vertical white bars. The underside features an inset lead weight or keel plate secured by two flat-head screws and a wire loop at the breast for an anchor line. No maker’s name, signature, or stamp is visible on the piece.
