Lot 389:
Description
29 inches. This vintage nautical lifebuoy is attributed to the Orient Steam Navigation Company, also known as the Orient Line. The circular ring is constructed with a canvas-wrapped core. The exterior is finished with alternating painted quadrants of yellow and red. The upper yellow section features black block lettering transcribing to ORIENT, while the lower yellow section reads LINE. The two red quadrants are decorated with the Orient Line house flag, which depicts a blue cross on a white rectangular field with a central gold crown. A thick, multi-strand fiber rope is attached to the outer perimeter by four sewn canvas lashings. A modern retail or inventory tag is attached to the upper section of the rope.
