Description
This collection consists of ten vintage blown glass Christmas ornaments, commonly referred to as mercury glass or silvered glass. The assortment features a variety of shapes and decorative techniques characteristic of mid-20th-century holiday decor. The group includes three teardrop-shaped gold-toned ornaments featuring hand-painted glitter scrolls and floral patterns in red and green. One ornament is a multi-colored reflector or indented style with a deep central cavity showing silver, red, and yellow tones. Another spherical ornament features a starburst indentation with red and silver horizontal banding. One red ball ornament displays stenciled white text reading MERRY CHRISTMAS surrounded by stylized snowflake motifs. The set also contains an amber-orange ornament with vertical ribbing and fine glitter accents, alongside three solid red spherical ornaments of varying sizes. Each ornament is topped with a metal cap and a wire hanging loop; the caps vary between smooth and corrugated styles. While the forms and stenciling are highly characteristic of manufacturers like Shiny Brite or mid-century Polish glassmakers, manufacturer marks on the metal caps are not clearly legible. The collection is housed in a vintage cardboard storage box with tissue paper.
