Antiques Quilts and Toppers
Lot 485:
Description
80 x 88 A hand-tied patchwork quilt featuring a variation of the traditional Drunkard’s Path pattern. The design consists of a central field of blocks featuring quarter-circle pieced segments in light pink and pale blue fabrics against a solid navy blue ground. This central section is framed by a wide navy blue border. The quilt top is constructed from solid-colored fabrics, likely cotton or a cotton-synthetic blend. The backing is made of a solid light pink synthetic fleece material, which has been brought forward to form a self-binding edge around the perimeter. Instead of traditional quilting stitches, the three layers are secured by hand-tied lengths of pink, blue, and white yarn or embroidery floss spaced throughout the surface. The reverse side features a small, rectangular area with a multi-colored embroidered inset piece.
