Antiques Quilts and Toppers
Lot 328:
Description
60 x 80 This is a double-sided patchwork scrap quilt of handmade construction. The top features an eclectic scrap design composed of squares and half-square triangles in a variety of fabric remnants. Patterns include ginghams, small-scale florals, solids, stripes, and novelty prints, notably one featuring small green hats. The reverse side is pieced into vertical columns of rectangular fabric patches separated by long, solid-colored strips in shades of light tan, bright blue, and pink. The layers are held together by hand-tied tufts of blue and yellow yarn spaced across the surface. The edges are finished with a pink and white gingham fabric binding. Materials appear to be a mixture of cotton and cotton-blend fabrics. No maker labels, signatures, or tags are present.
