Lot 291:
Description
21 x 40, 29 x 44 This lot consists of two hand-crafted quilted panels or baby blankets featuring nursery-themed motifs. The first blanket depicts the story of the Three Little Pigs through hand-appliqu?d fabric figures on a bright green field. The scene shows the three pigs building their respective houses of straw, sticks, and bricks along a winding blue and white path. A figure representing the big bad wolf is positioned in the lower right corner, and the scene is accented with appliqu?d trees and floral details. The piece is finished with a cream-colored fabric binding. The second blanket features a celestial theme with teddy bears resting on stars and clouds against a light pink central field. The four corners are anchored by large yellow stars with a musical note pattern. Hand-stitched text across the center reads: would you like to swing on a star / Carry moonbeams home in a jar… This blanket includes a pink and white checkered inner border and a solid yellow outer binding. Both items demonstrate hand-appliqu? and hand-quilting techniques, with irregular, visible stitching on the reverse sides characteristic of domestic textile production.
