Description
66 x 80 This vintage American quilt is executed in a variation of the Basket pattern, featuring 64 individual blocks set on point. Each block contains a hand-pieced basket base constructed from various scrap cotton fabrics, including solids and period prints such as florals and geometrics. The curved handles of each basket are hand-appliqued to the blocks. These blocks are set against a dark indigo-blue cotton background. The entire piece is hand-quilted in a diagonal cross-hatch pattern. The reverse side consists of a light pink solid cotton backing with a central vertical seam. The edges are finished with a separate dark-colored binding. No maker’s marks, labels, or signatures are present.
