Antiques Quilts and Toppers
Lot 141B:
Description
56 x 72 This is an unfinished handmade cotton quilt top featuring the Grandmother’s Flower Garden pattern. The piece is constructed from numerous hand-pieced hexagonal fabric scraps in a variety of prints, including pink florals, red centers surrounded by white floral borders, and a purple lattice pattern with green floral motifs. The reverse side exhibits visible hand-stitching and raw seams, confirming its status as a quilt top rather than a completed, layered quilt. The overall color palette of pink, green, yellow, and red is characteristic of 1930s-1940s textiles. The edges are unfinished and jagged, following the hexagonal shapes of the individual patches.
