Description
64 x 70 This vintage handmade textile is a square yo-yo quilt, a variation of the traditional circular yo-yo motif popular in the early to mid-20th century. The piece is constructed from individual square-shaped fabric puffs. Each square is created by gathering fabric toward a central point and then hand-sewing the units together along the edges using visible whip-stitching on the reverse. The materials comprise a wide variety of colorful fabrics, including silks, satins, and synthetic blends such as rayon, in a palette of deep red, lavender, mustard yellow, olive green, cream, and brown. The quilt features a complex, multi-colored patchwork arrangement. The construction is entirely hand-executed
