Description
This pocket watch was manufactured by the American Waltham Watch Co. of Waltham, Massachusetts. The movement is identified as a Model 1883, 18-size, full plate design featuring a manual wind and lever-set mechanism. The movement is decorated with a geometric damaskeened pattern and is engraved with American Waltham Watch Co., the serial number 3958905, and SAFETY PINION. Based on the serial number, the movement dates to approximately 1889. The watch is housed in a silver-tone metal case with a clear glass exhibition back, allowing the movement to be viewed while the case is closed. The winding crown is finished in a gold-tone metal. The white enamel dial features black Roman numeral hour markers, an outer minute track, and an inner ring of Arabic numerals 13 through 24 for 24-hour timekeeping. A sunken sub-seconds dial is located at the 6 o’clock position. The dial is signed Am. Watch Co. WALTHAM. The watch features blued steel spade-style hands. Size: 18s.
