Description
This lot consists of American hand tools manufactured for the E.C. Simmons Hardware Company and the Shapleigh Hardware Company of St. Louis, Missouri. The group includes a lathing hatchet, an adjustable wrench, and a cabinet scraper. The lathing hatchet features a forged steel head with a hammer poll and a cutting edge with a nail-pulling notch, stamped with the Keen Kutter trademark. The adjustable wrench is a 10-inch drop-forged steel tool stamped KEEN KUTTER K-10 on one side and SHAPLEIGH’S ST. LOUIS U.S.A. on the reverse. The cabinet scraper features a steel body with a turned wooden handle and is stamped E.C. SIMMONS KEEN KUTTER with a patent date of AUGUST 11, 1914. These tools are constructed from forged steel, cast steel, and wood.
