Lot 61:
Description
This still bank is designed in the style of early 20th-century American cast iron novelties. The figure depicts a caricatured man in a standing pose with hands placed on his hips, wearing a wide-brimmed hat, collared shirt, and trousers. The front of the torso features embossed block lettering reading GIVE ME A PENNY across three lines. The item is constructed from two cast halves joined by a single metal screw located in the center of the back. A narrow horizontal coin slot is positioned on the upper reverse between the shoulder blades. There are no identifiable manufacturer marks, patent numbers, or date codes visible on the exterior. This piece is a representative example of historical Black Americana collectibles. The material is cast iron.
