Lot 93:
Description
This bulbous, squat ovoid-shaped earthenware vase was manufactured by Nemadji Pottery in Moose Lake, Minnesota. The vessel features a short, slightly tapered neck and a wide rim. The exterior is decorated with a signature cold-paint marbling technique, resulting in a unique, non-repeating pattern of forest green, burnt umber, ochre, and charcoal grey swirls against a matte, cream-colored ground. The interior remains unglazed, revealing the natural reddish-brown earthenware clay body typical of this producer. The base is stamped with an authentic factory mark in black ink, featuring a profile of a Native American head with U.S.A. printed below and NEMADJI POTTERY in a circular arrangement.
