Description
70x92This early 20th-century American utility quilt, or comforter, features a hand-pieced whirling logs pattern. The design consists of twenty blocks arranged in a four by five grid. Each block displays a central four-armed motif in blue and white cotton, historically referred to as a swastika or whirling logs pattern, framed by red corner squares. The blocks are set against an off-white ground. The quilt is hand-tied with tufts of white yarn to secure the batting. The backing is constructed from plain off-white cotton with a simple turned-edge binding. No maker’s labels or signatures are present. Approximate Dimensions: 60 inches by 75 inches.
