Description
This is a mid-twentieth century decorative wall plaque in low relief depicting a soldier from the American Revolutionary War era. The figure is represented in full-length attire, including a tricorn hat with a cockade, a regimental coat with contrasting lapels and buttons, cross-belts, and tall gaiters. The soldier is depicted at rest, holding a flintlock musket. The plaque is composed of cast metal, finished with multi-colored paint and a distressed patina. The reverse is coated in a black finish and includes a twisted wire hanging mount. Indistinct alphanumeric characters are cast into the metal on the reverse near the head area but are not clearly legible. This piece is representative of Americana home decor produced during the 1960s and 1970s leading up to the United States Bicentennial.
