Description
This lot consists of a set of graduated petal-style sleigh bells mounted on a single, continuous black leather strap. The bells are constructed from cast brass or a similar brass alloy and feature a traditional four-petal slit design. The bells are arranged in a graduated scale according to size, with several bells displaying embossed numerals on the underside, specifically numbers 1 through 4, which indicate their position within a standardized sizing system. The bells are secured to a long leather strap that terminates in a tapered end. The construction and style are indicative of horse harness equipment from the late 19th to early 20th century. No manufacturer stamps or maker marks were identified on the leather or metal components.
