Description
Afolio-sized scrapbook containing an assortment of newspaper clippings and photographs primarily dating from 1933 to 1938. The hardcover binding is decorated with a black-and-white polka-dot pattern, featuring the words SCRAP BOOK in large, multi-colored cutout letters on the front cover. A handwritten note on a lined index card clipped to the front reads Newspaper Items 1936. The interior consists of numerous pasted articles and images arranged on heavy paper pages. Major subjects include the March 1936 floods in the Ohio River Valley and New England, several feature stories on Eleanor Roosevelt, and various items related to the British Royal Family, including King George V and Queen Mary. One photograph depicts Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands as an infant, dated 1938. Other clippings document U.S. government officials such as George H. Dern and Harold L. Ickes.
